Airliner with 127 on board crashes near Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD | Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:53am EDT

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A Pakistani civilian aircraft with 127 people on board crashed in bad weather near Islamabad's international airport on Friday, state television reported.

The aircraft was operated by local carrier Bhoja Air, it said.

Television channels said the airliner was traveling from Pakistan's biggest city and commercial hub Karachi to the capital Islamabad.

State television reported that all hospitals in Islamabad and the nearby city of Rawalpindi had been put on high alert after the crash.
